Synopsis
"Sinestesia" chronicles the vicissitudes of four young adults in two moments of their lives which are in turn linked to two dramatic episodes three years apart. The intervening years see the characters confronted by the usual joys and difficulties of everyday life. However, they also find themselves having to react to a destiny which, every now and again, places a crossroads in our way. The main character is Alan (Alessio Boni).
Around him are his wife, Françoise (Giorgia Wurth), his young lover Michela (Melanie Winiger), and Igor (Leonardo Nigro), his best friend.
The plot of the film is based largely on observations of everyday life and draws on episodes which actually happened. The narration is organised into chapters.
Each chapter is inspired by a particular genre of cinema (romance, thriller, comedy, drama), in order to show the mundane in its multitude of guises. Mostly set in Canton Ticino, the action also shifts between French and German Switzerland.

Questo progetto nasce durante l'inverno 2006, dopo la lettura di un trafiletto di poche righe in un quotidiano ticinese. Sinestesia riflette sulla presenza del destino nella vita dei quattro personaggi principali. Sostiene un semplice assioma: siamo responsabili delle nostre vite, ma a volte ciò che accade sfugge al nostro controllo. In ogni momento il nostro destino può svoltare e allora diventiamo tutti in qualche modo "diversamente abili", ognuno di noi ha bisogno di qualcuno che si occupi di lui.
L'utilizzo della camera a spalla, piuttosto delicata, traduce formalmente la natura realistica della vicenda. L'avvicinamento dei capitoli a determinati generi cinematografici lascia comunque spazio ad alcuni stilemi tipici dei generi in questione.
